BOULDER - A bear that had wandered into a cemetery near a Boulder elementary school had to be euthanized Friday.

The bear was first spotted around 2:15 p.m. up a tree inside the Columbia Cemetery, which neighbors Flatiron Elementary School located at 1150 7th St.

The school was on lockout status before classes were dismissed Friday afternoon.

Wildlife officials say the male black bear was ear tagged about a month ago after it wandered into town near 6th and Arapahoe.

It was again spotted in a residential area just a week before Friday's sighting.
