DENVER (DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL) - A local commercial real estate broker is marketing the retail space that the Tattered Cover Book Store rents at the Mercantile Building, 1628 16th St. in LoDo.
Whether that means the well-known bookstore will be leaving the building - or all of LoDo for that matter - remains to be seen.
Tattered Cover owner Joyce Meskis said she's doing everything she can to stay in LoDo.
"We are currently in negotiations with our landlord and I am not free to expand on the content of those conversations at this time," she said. "I am sure you understand. The ultimate plan of the Tattered Cover is to continue to have a store in LoDo and it is our expectation that we will be able to do just that."
Meskis wouldn't say if the store would retain its space at the 120-year-old building on the corner of 16th and Wynkoop streets. The store has been there since 1994. Tattered Cover also runs two other metro Denver stores, at Colfax Avenue across from East High School and at the Highlands Ranch Town Center.
