DENVER - A redevelopment project along Brighton Boulevard kicked off Tuesday.
Tuesday afternoon, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock got behind a jackhammer and started demolition on a 120,000-square-foot warehouse.
It's part of a major revitalization project for the area along Brighton Boulevard between Park Avenue and Interstate 70.
Denver City councilwoman Judy Montero, who also had a hand on that jackhammer, said neighborhoods connected to downtown make the city stronger.
The first phase of the development includes shared space for small businesses and businesses that are just getting started. That phase is projected to be completed early next year.
The project is expected to bring hundreds of jobs.
