KUSA - Recently-retired Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton will be an honorary captain for the Denver Broncos on Sunday, the Broncos announced Thursday.

The team also will have a pregame tribute to Helton, who played his last game on Sept. 29 after 17 seasons with the Rockies.

Helton and Denver quarterback Peyton Manning were college teammates at Tennessee, and Manning replace Helton during the Volunteers' 1994 season. Helton was a junior and Manning a true freshman.

Helton will join Manning and the other Broncos captains for the coin toss against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kickoff is set for 2:05 p.m.

Manning has been to a few of the Rockies' games the past two seasons, including Helton's final home game Sept. 25 at Coors Field.
