BOULDER - CDOT announced Monday night that CO 119 had reopened at Boulder Canyon.
All lanes of the highway at Boulder Canyon had been closed for hours due to a rollover accident that involved a propane truck.
Just before 11 Monday morning, a Kenworth tanker was headed northbound on Highway 119 on a curve that turned to the left. It rolled onto it's side and collided with a guardrail before it blocked the entire road.
The cargo tank ruptured and spilled an unknown amount of diesel onto the road and down an embankment. The truck was carrying around 4000 gallons of diesel fuel. An initial investigation did not reveal any water contamination in nearby Boulder Creek. The appropriate agencies were notified about possible contamination.
Reed Kreutzer, 51, of Thornton, is the driver. He was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as contributing factors in the crash. Authorities are investigating driver inexperience and high speed.
Kreutzer received a citation for careless driving.
