BOULDER - Seventy chickens were killed in a coop fire in Boulder Tuesday evening.
According to officials, the Lafayette Fire Department and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office responded to a fire at 9:30 p.m. in the 9700 block of Isabelle Road. They found a chicken coop fully engulfed in flames.
They were able to put out the fire, but not before 70 chickens died in the structure.
The Boulder County Multi-Agency Fire Investigation Team will be investigating the scene Wednesday morning. As of now, officials say the fire may have originated from a gas heater in the coop.
