NEW YORK - Whether you use a snow blower, leaf blower, lawn mower, or generator, most likely you have one of those common, five-gallon, red, plastic gas cans.
They can be found in households all across the country, but there are serious questions about the safety of those cans that cost less than $20 each.
They are the focus of a lawsuit that alleges the cans could have been made safer, but manufacturers refused to incorporate a needed flame arrester.
Eleven people have died since 1998, and 1,200 others have been sent to the emergency room, injured by exploding gas cans.
