DENVER - The District Attorney's Office of Denver said Wednesday that an officer-involved shooting that happened Nov. 8 forcing an officer to shoot a suicidal man has been legally justified.
Police received a call about a suicidal man, Jamie Lynn Strickland, in an apartment building on South Quebec Way.
When police arrived, they found Strickland with a knife.
Police say they tried to stop him without hurting him. Officer Daniel McIntosh was forced to shoot the man when he tried to assault an officer.
According to the DA's Office, Strickland called 911 and told the call taker he had violated his probation, had been shooting meth for days, had a butcher knife and wanted the police to come and shoot him.
Strickland added if the police did not shoot him, he would stab them in the eyeball.
