KSDK - It's almost impossible to avoid spending money during the holidays, what with the temptation of good deals and the need to impress your family.
With that being said, we're putting together a bit of a shopping list for you, which features the best and worst things to buy in December.
Thomas Nitzche, from Clearpoint Credit Counseling Solutions, is here with some "deals and duds."
Good buys include:
-Toys: In 2012, prices on the top toy hit their lowest prices in the middle two weeks of December.
-Gift cards: Some stores offer freebies. Buy a $50 LL Bean Card and get a $10 gift card free.
-Tools and hardware: December is a great time to buy the items you need for all of your D.I.Y. projects.
Bad buys include:
-Electronics like digital cameras and TVs. Wait until after the January consumer electronics show. Prices sometimes drop drastically on older models.
-Christmas decorations and wall calendars: early January can be the best time to buy.
