KUSA - The Piano Guys are back. These talented musicians from Utah are out with their very first Christmas album.
"A Family Christmas," is a 12-track set they are calling "a really eclectic mix" of seasonal standards such as "Angels We Have Heard on High," "Come, O Come, Emmanuel" and "Silent Night," some of which the duo has already posted on its YouTube channel, along with a couple of original compositions.
Their version of "Angels" has already generated more than five million hits. As the music starts, cellist and songwriter Steven Sharp Nelson plays the traditional keys of the piano, while pianist John Schmidt and music producer Al Van Der Beek use horse hair to play the strings on the grand piano like a violin.
Producer Paul Anderson begins by directing, but then starts hitting the strings with his fingers. One piano, four guys.
"Hope you enjoyed the video," Anderson says at the end. "We did put a couple fun things in there, one of them is our 'elf on the shelf,' Simone. See how many times you can spot him!"
The band also has a full December tour schedule, available on their website, including stops in Hamburg, Germany, Dusseldorf, Berlin and Salt Lake City.
