CASTLE ROCK - Castle Rock police have increased patrols in school zones after a man asked an elementary student if he wanted a ride in the area of Castle Rock Elementary Tuesday after school.
The boy, who was able to run to safety and was unharmed told police, the man was driving a large maroon SUV with dark, tinted windows. The boy wasn't able to give police a physical description of the suspect.
The Castle Rock Police Department and the Douglas County School District are encouraging parents to remind children of the importance of not talking to stranger and to go to a safe place if approached.
In a statement released to the press, police say children should be aware of their surroundings and tell their parents immediately if they are approached by a suspicious person.
Residents are asked to call 911 if they observe any suspicious people driving a maroon SUV with dark tinted windows.
