BROOMFIELD - There are new developments this week in the battle over fracking in Broomfield.
The vote in November for a five-year moratorium was extremely close. A recount showed the measure passed by only 20 votes out of 21,000 counted.
But supporters of fracking filed a lawsuit, saying election workers didn't let them watch the recount. Broomfield officials denied that.
This week a judge ordered Broomfield not to certify the election results. But as of Thursday, the city and county filed motions asking the judge to reconsider, according to attorney Bill Tuthill. He says they weren't given enough time to be heard.
They also pointed out the results were already certified. The judge has yet to respond.
