USA TODAY - Growing up, Alessandra Ambrosio wanted to be a model so badly that when she was 11 years old, she went under the knife to have her ears pinned back.

The knife, unfortunately, was a little too new.

"I found this doctor in my hometown (of Erechim) in Brazil who had only done it once before, so I was a guinea pig," a laughing Ambrosio, 32, tells Net-a-Porter.com's magazine. "The first few nights, it felt like someone had cut off my ears. For a year, I had to go back for mini-surgeries. Doctors say they can fix them, but cosmetic surgery freaks me out now."

And now, the Victoria's Secret Angel keeps her ears - which, according to the website, are nonetheless "delicate and perfectly formed like the rest of her" and which originally only stuck out "a bit" - hidden behind her chestnut tresses.
