KUSA- Thornton Police say a man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run in the parking lot of a Home Depot store.

Officers responded to the store at 10003 N. Grant Street just before 2:00 p.m. Sunday. They say a 63-year-old Thornton man was getting into his pick-up truck when a red Chevrolet Cavalier with black bumpers struck the passenger side door. The man was thrown to the ground by the impact and suffered a severe head injury.

The driver of the Cavalier left the parking lot after the incident. According to witnesses, the vehicle sustained heavy front end damage, and was leaking radiator fluid. Witnesses also say it appears that the passenger side air bag had deployed, and that the vehicle had at least one broken headlight. The vehicle was last seen traveling in the area of E. 104th Avenue and N. Grant Street.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Thornton Police Department or Metro Area Crime Stoppers at 720-913-Stop (7867).
