DOVE CREEK - Dolores County High School in Dove Creek was on lockdown for a brief time on Monday after a suspicious man with a gun was seen in the area. The lockdown has since been lifted.

Earlier in the year, 9NEWS reported how the Dolores County School board voted to allow its principal and superintendent to act as school resource officers by carrying guns with them to school.

Dove Creek is located in the southwest corner of Colorado about 25 miles north of Cortez.

The Dolores County School District has about 260 students.
