KUSA - Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have joined the investigation into what caused a massive fire at a Glendale building still under construction.

The fire started late Saturday night, just after 11 p.m., at a vacant soon-to-be apartment building at South Cherry Street and Cherry Creek South Drive that would have included 341 units.

The flames from the fire were so powerful they skipped over a roadway, burned two separate apartment complexes and melted the front ends of nearly 20 parked vehicles. No one was injured in the blaze.

The three alarm fire is estimated to have caused more than $12 million in damage. The ATF is working jointly with the Denver Fire Department, Glendale Police Department and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

It's unclear what caused the fire.
