KUSA - 'Tis the season for festive parties, and police know many of those parties include alcohol. That's why they're issuing a warning: "Drive sober or get pulled over."
The slogan comes from the National Traffic Safety Administration and the U.S. Transportation Department. The agencies will kick off their annual enforcement campaign, focused on people who may be drinking at holiday parties and then getting behind the wheel.
Local and state police will join forces with agencies from across the country for the enforcement campaign. One national official in the campaign is Vail Police chief Dwight Henniger, who is also vice president of the International Association of Chiefs.
Federal and state agencies are joining forces to prevent drunk driving during the Christmas and New Year's celebration times. The enforcement efforts have gotten support from organizations like Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
