KUSA - Demolition work finally began Tuesday on the old Fan Fair building in Aurora.
As the air horn sounded, a backhoe tore through the roof of the building, which has been empty for nearly 30 years.
The 10-acre property is near Lowry, Stapleton and the Anschutz Medical Campus.
The city considers it prime real estate and many are excited to see what the future holds.
The Aurora Urban Renewal Authority purchased the property about a year ago for $4 million.
The building is expected to be down by the end of next month. Clean-up efforts are expected to be finished by the spring.
