KUSA - One punch from a stranger ended up killing Daniel Lovato, who had gotten into a fight while attending a concert at Summit Music Hall in April.
9Wants to Know has learned Denver cold case detectives know what the killer looks like, but they still don't know his name.
The crowd inside Summit Music Hall on April 27, 2013, had come to see the Kotton Mouth Kings perform. Daniel Lovato and his brother came to the concert together, but they had become separated. Lovato seemed to be having a good time, regardless.
"The victim was dancing during the concert," Detective Louis Estrada said.
Witnesses say at some point Lovato shoved a guy, who made a fist and hit back.
"Just one shot, one punch to the face," Estrada said. "His head hits the ground."
Daniel Lovato died a few days later in the hospital. Estrada says it's "highly unusual" that this would happen, and he said the killer may not even know the severity of his actions.
Summit's security guards kicked out the man who threw the punch without getting his name. The man vanished down the shadowy street before police and paramedics arrived. Denver homicide detectives have spent eight months trying to find him.
This month, detectives had a sketch created based on witness descriptions. They hope the drawing will lead them to a suspect.
Lovato's killer is described as Hispanic, about 30 years old, 5'9'' to 5'10'' tall. He has a stocky build with tattoos on both arms. The night of the concert he was wearing a black cap with a brown bill and a black shirt with red cursive writing.
There is a cash reward in this case through Crime Stoppers (720) 913-STOP.
