KUSA- An equestrian competition held Saturday in Littleton raised money for shooting victim Claire Davis.
Davis was shot at Arapahoe High School on December 13, she succumbed to her injuries Saturday afternoon with family members by her side.
Friends of Davis say when she wasn't at school, she was training and caring for her horse named Graphite.
Kathryn Russell doesn't know Davis, but her daughter is a rider who participates in equestrian competitions.
"I don't know Claire. She rides with a lot of the girls in an IEA group for another barn, but I know some mutual friends of hers and you don't have to know her to come out and support her," Russell said.
She helped organize Saturday's competition. She says they collected donations at an event last weekend, and raised about $2,600. After the success of that event, they put together Saturday's event in hopes of raising even more money to help pay for Davis' medical bills.
"We just want to wish the family happy holidays and let them know that we're thinking about them and praying for them," Russell said.
