AURORA - Christmas is only a day away and a good chunk of American still hasn't started shopping yet.
According to TIME Magazine, in 2011 a reported 24 million Americans waited until Christmas Even to purchase their gifts.
This year, consumers are in luck. Dozens of big named stores are currently in 'marathon mode'. They have expanded their hours leading in to Christmas.
KOHL'S is essentially staying open for five days straight. It's the first time the store has ever done that. Toys 'R' Us is staying open for 87 hours straight; that started on Saturday. Other places, like Macy's and Kmart, are half-way through staying open for 100 hours leading in to Tuesday.
The expanded hours are similar to what we saw on Black Friday. Consumers haven't been spending as much this year, so stores are doing whatever they can to make some extra bucks.
Target, K-Mart and Nordstrom will have later hours on Christmas Eve, but it depends on the store. So call ahead before heading out.
Our partners at USA Today broke down some other stores by their hours as well as certain savings.
