LITTLETON - Santa's helpers are making sure every furry friend has something special under the tree this Christmas.

Volunteers with the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley are serving homeless pets a fancy Christmas feast Wednesday morning. Community members will go through a food line with bowls, dish up the meal and deliver to an animal in the shelter of their choice.

This year, a veterinarian has approved roast for the dogs and skinless turkey for the cats. Animals will also enjoy side dishes including mashed potatoes, pumpkin, cranberry and squash.

Santa and his elves also made a stop to the shelter overnight. Every pet at the center will receive a brand new toy.

If you were unable to attend the event but still want to donate to the animals, you can drop off blanket or toy donations to the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley. It's located at 2129 W. Chenango Ave. Littleton, CO 80120.
