EATON - A three-legged puppy from New Mexico will be having surgery in Colorado the week of Christmas and will then be looking for a new home.

The 4-month-old chocolate lab puppy was found wandering as a stray and with one leg missing. Forest was fortunate to find a person who took him and was able to feed him table scraps.

After some time, animal rescue convinced the individual to let them help the puppy.

According to a New Mexico veterinarian, Forest's leg was either caught on something, ripped off or chopped off. Despite the puppy's pain, he has been able to make it this far.

Denkai's veterinarians say Forest's leg did not heal correctly, and they are planning on amputating his leg, in order to improve his life quality as much as possible.

The chocolate lab is currently staying close to Parker until his surgery date.

If you would like to help change Forest's life, you can donate money here:

All donations will go toward the $450 needed for his surgery.
