Bicyclist injured, road closed after Fort Collins crash

FORT COLLINS - Fort Collins police on Friday morning are investigating after a bicyclist was hit by a Subaru station wagon at Prospect and Riverside.

The crash happened about 10 a.m., and caused traffic delays in the area as paramedics and firefighters assisted the injured rider, as did an emergency room nurse who jumped out of her car to help.

Fort Collins police say the bicyclist was crossing Riverside headed north when he was hit by Subaru turning east from Riverside onto Prospect.

The bicyclist was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies. Information about the severity of the his injuries was not immediately available.

Police said the investigation was ongoing, and they had not yet made any decisions about possible charges.

Eastbound Prospect Road is closed at Riverside Avenue for the investigation.
