BOULDER - Boulder Police arrested a man on Thursday for allegedly assaulting a woman and attempting to steal her car.
Police arrested Sean Christopher Jackson, 28, after an investigation determined he was responsible for assaulting a Boulder woman.
A 44-year-old Boulder woman called the Boulder police dispatch Thursday evening reporting an assault in the 1500 block of Easy Rider Lane. The woman woman said she had parked her car on the street and got out of the car to get some items from the passenger's side.
Police say Jackson then came up behind the woman and demanded for her car keys. He grabbed her coat with one hand and sprayed pepper spray with the other hand. The victim was able to run to her house, where her roommate called the police.
The suspect then ran away.
Only six minutes later police received another call from Jackson saying he had been cut and was in need of help.
The caller would not give any details to the dispatchers. Police found the man in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express located at 4777 N. Broadway, about two blocks away from the neighborhood he attacked the woman. He was bleeding from one of his hands.
Police tried to help him, however he became aggressive and threatened officers, who then took him into protective custody.
Police noticed a blood trail from the hotel back to the neighborhood where the woman was attacked.
Jackson was taken to the hospital and stitched up and then questioned by officers. He was then taken to Boulder County Jail.
Jackson faces charges of first-degree assault, attempted aggravated motor vehicle theft, robbery and criminal attempt.
He is registered as a sex offender in Boulder.
