CORTEZ, Colo. (AP) - A Montezuma County jail inmate has died after he was found unresponsive in his cell.
The Cortez Journal reports the man was taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez on Friday, where he was pronounced dead.
His name wasn't immediately released. He was described as a 47-year-old from Cortez.
Undersheriff Lynda Carter says the man had been jailed late Thursday on a charge of driving under the influence and was found unresponsive Friday morning.
Carter says a jail nurse began CPR and emergency medical technicians were summoned.
An autopsy was planned.
