KUSA - Cannabis gets the headlines, but there are other new laws that will take effect January 1.

Starting Wednesday, 16 year olds will be able to pre-register to vote - two birthdays before they can actually case ballots.

Owners of plug-in electric cars will pay new fees. The state will charge those drivers $50 per year, capturing some money from green vehicles that aren't contributing to gasoline taxes.
