DENVER - Thousands of people packed the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver Tuesday to celebrate the new year.
Fireworks and performers entertained the crowds.
The 9 p.m. fireworks show marked the "family friendly" portion of the night. Older revelers were treated to a midnight show to welcome the new year.
Organizers were expecting more than 100,000 people. They said they set records for crowds that gathered on the 16th Street Mall.
RTD bus and train service, including SkyRide, was free from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
