DENVER - Three people were seriously injured - including a 6-year-old girl - after multiple crashes at one Denver intersection Thursday afternoon.
The incidents occurred on Federal Boulevard and West 8th Avenue around noon.
Police say the driver of a Hyundai Elantra was attempting to turn left from northbound Federal Boulevard onto West 8th Avenue when the Elantra struck a southbound minivan.
Three people in the minivan were seriously injured, including an unbuckled 6-year-old girl. Paramedics at the scene said the child may have suffered paralyzing injuries.
While the victims of the first incident were being loaded into an ambulance parked in the middle of the intersection, a third vehicle struck the ambulance. It's unclear if the second crash caused additional injuries.
A Good Samaritan was also injured attempting to help. A few blocks away a car struck a light pole. No one was seriously injured in that incident.
Police shut down the intersection for several hours during the investigation.
