BOULDER - The University of Colorado-Boulder has cleared a controversial teacher to return to the classroom - although she's not sure she wants to go back.
CU gave the OK Thursday for Patti Adler to resume teaching her popular course on deviance in U.S. society. That course contains a lecture on prostitution, including a racy skit performed by teaching assistants.
An executive committee said Professor Adler will be allowed to teach the course next semester if she wants.
Adler responded with the following:
"My case is just a small step in the fight to preserve academic freedom in universities around the globe -- many issues remain to be addressed in my ongoing relationship with the university, so my future is still unclear. I greatly appreciate the support I have received from students, faculty, and outside organizations."
