KUSA - It's a new year but the memory of September's deadly floods lives on for many.
For Gerry Boland's family, 2014 will be a year of healing. Boland was a retired Lyons elementary school teacher who died in that flood, leaving behind his wife and children.
His grown kids now want to be part of rebuilding their hometown of Lyons and are holding a fundraiser Jan. 11.
The family hopes people will come out and buy lunch or dinner, to pump some cash into the Lyons economy.
