PARIS (AP) - Two managers at Goodyear tire plant in northern France are trapped in a conference room with angry workers who are demanding more money in exchange for the inevitable loss of their jobs.
Goodyear has tried to close the plant (in Amiens) for five years without success.
In exchange for freeing the bosses, workers are demanding 80,000 euros ($108,000) plus 2,500 euros ($3,400) for each year worked.
Mickael Wamen, the union president, tells LCI television, "we decided to change tactics and fight for the largest compensation possible."
The two managers tried to leave the conference following an especially difficult meeting with staff today, but they were blocked.
