ARVADA - The Arvada Police released Monday the names of the two suspects in the weekend officer-involved shooting.
The suspects are 23-year-old Maksim Khamov, identified as the driver of the suspect vehicle, and 23-year-old Igor Skorev, identified as the suspect in the passenger seat who was shot and killed.
Police say a fight at a bar in Westminster over a pool game ended in a shootout overnight Friday.
The fight at the bar involved several people and police believe only words were exchanged. Four people, two men and two women, left the bar and said they were followed by Khamov and Skorev involved in the argument.
That vehicle, an Audi, eventually pulled up and shot at the victim's car near westbound 80th Avenue and Pierce Street, striking it once. No one was injured and the victims called police.
Later that night, police spotted the Audi. In the attempt to apprehend the armed suspects, officers fired shots.
"It was when they were coming back and driving towards our officers that the two officers who were trying to block the intersection opened fire on them," Jill McGranahan with Arvada police said.
Police say Khamov continued to try and elude police and fled the scene. The Audi was located again approximately 40 minutes later in the 8600 block of West 62nd Avenue. Both suspects were in the vehicle. Skorev was deceased and Kharmov was taken into custody.
The two Arvada officers involved in the shooting are on paid-administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
