ADAMS COUNTY - The sister of a woman found dead, along with a child in an apartment Friday, says the victim, Raelynn Gonzalez, 50, lived with her daughter to help take care of her two grandchildren.
The Adams County Sheriff's office is investigating the death of Gonzalez and one of the two grandchildren as a homicide. The bodies were found Friday night at an apartment complex on the 2800 block of West 66th Place.
Johanna Trujillo identified the homicide victims as her sister and her great nephew, Fabian Gonzalez. She said Fabian was between 2 and 3 years old. The Adams County Coroner has confirmed the identities of both victims, but not the age or cause of death for either Raelynn or Fabian.
"My sister was friendly and nice to a lot of people, maybe too friendly." Trujillo said. "That may have gotten her in trouble."
Trujillo told 9NEWS that her sister would always strike up conversations with people. The family just moved into the apartment in December. Gonzalez's daughter, Felicia, recently got a job and Gonzalez was helping babysit. It isn't clear where Gonzalez's granddaughter was at the time of the homicide, but she did live at the home.
Trujillo said she doesn't know what happened to her sister and great nephew.
The sheriff's office is releasing very few details to 9NEWS about the investigation.
Neighbors also identified the victims to 9NEWS. None of them knew what happened.
A small memorial full of candles, stuffed toys and flowers with two pictures stands in front of the small apartment building.
