KUSA - Bear Creek High School in Lakewood notified parents Monday of a credible threat.
A Bear Creek parent emailed 9NEWS an audio recording of a voicemail from the Jefferson County School District.
The recording told parents of a threat involving Bear Creek High School made by a former student. The incident was reported to Lakewood police, according to the recording.
Lakewood police said the threat was made towards a specific person within Bear Creek. The unidentified former student did not contact the school.
Police said the investigation into the threat has been going on for at least two weeks. Investigators have been in contact with everyone involved, according to Lakewood police spokesperson Steve Davis.
"A credible threat doesn't mean imminent," Davis said.
Davis said police might add more patrols in and around the school, but there are no plans to close the school.
