Police release name of 18-year-old Thornton victim killed in knife fight

THORNTON - The 18-year-old man that was killed by another teen with a knife early Saturday morning has been identified.

Thornton Police found Anthony Benavidez at the 4200 Block of E. 100th Avenue with severe knife injury to the throat. Benavidez later died from his injuries.

Police say Benavidez and a 17-year-old boy got into a fight at that location. The teen suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

The suspect was later located and arrested. He his facing first-degree murder charges.

Police have not released the teen's name at this time.
