A 74-year-old Fort Collins man died Tuesday after suffering a cardiac emergency while snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park.
The man's friends called park rangers while they were snowshoeing near Mills Lake and performed CPR, according to a park news release. The man, whose identity will not be released until his next of kin are notified, was pronounced dead about 1 p.m.
Mills Lake is slightly less than three miles from the trailhead and close to 10,000 feet in elevation. Park staff recovered the man's body and transferred it to the Larimer County Coronor Office.
No further information was available Tuesday night.
