USA TODAY - There's more body (shaming) talk in Hollywood today.
Jessica Simpson has opened up to Redbook for its February issue about all the sniping her shape received while pregnant with her two kids.
"I never listen to it, no matter who the press talks about when they're pregnant," she says. "It's ridiculous and unfair. I think any woman who is pregnant and creating a life is pretty much entitled to eat whatever she wants as long as she's healthy. I wasn't going to let the media take away from what was one of the happiest times in my life."
(She recently revealed to USA TODAY's Nanci Hellmich the precise ups and downs of her weight gain and loss.)
She also zeroes in on one of her more infamously photographed outfits: a rather unflattering pair of high-waisted blue jeans from 2009.
"What's so unbelievable is that I was probably at least 15 pounds smaller than I am right now," says Simpson, who wears a snug, cinched, floral dress on the cover (yes, it's a full-length, full color photo). "What's more unbelievable is that the press could create something like that out of a pair of jeans...what woman wants to be brought down for wearing a pair of jeans?"
Simpson also opens up about the father of her children, Eric Johnson. "I've learned that sometimes love is not enough. You can have a soul mate and be madly in love with that person, but it's not necessarily enough. I think you have to have personalities that mesh well. You have to be the yin to their yang. You also have to be open to figuring things out together and communicating even when it's the last thing you want to do."
Other things help, too, of course: "I have to admit, it doesn't hurt that Eric is one of the hottest men I've ever seen and he looks amazing naked!"
