PHILADELPHIA - A woman and former resident of Colorado was sentenced Wednesday to eight years in prison for one count of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists.
Jamie Paulin- Ramirez, 35, will also have three years of supervised release and has to pay a fine of $2,500 and a $100 special assessment.
According to authorities, Ramirez traveled to South Asia and Europe to get training in support of violent jihad.
Ramirez traveled and exchanged email messages with Colleen LaRose, who pleaded guilty to the same charge on March 8, 2011.
Ramirez accepted LaRose's invitation to travel to Europe and traveled to Ireland in 2009 to potentially train and live with jihadists.
The case was investigated by the FBI Field Division in New York, the FBI's joint Terrorism Task Force in Philadelphia, the FBI Field Division in Denver, and the FBI Field Office in Washington, D.C.
Authorities in Ireland also helped with the investigation.
