LOVELAND - Sixty-year-old Patty Goodwine died in September's flooding.

The Loveland Public Library where she worked more than half of her life is raising money to build a sculpture in her honor.

"It's been kind of like taking the heart out of the library. She was the center of the office up there. You couldn't do anything without going past her desk," said Dawn Middleton, who worked with Goodwine.

Goodwine's desk still bears her name, and the calendar near her computer displays September.

"There's been a big hole in all of our lives," said Marcia Lewis. "We have to sort of mentally think we're not replacing Patty. We never can."

Friends and family have raised roughly $5,000 so far to commission a memorial at the library.

"We will be moving on, we have to, but we'll always have good memories, too," said Lewis.

Goodwine worked at the library for 34 years.

If you want to contribute, you can do so at any Home State Bank. You're asked to request the deposit to go the "Remembering Patty Goodwine" memorial account.
