DENVER - Three men who were stabbed in the parking lot of Sports Authority Field have been banned from the stadium for a year.

Last month when the Broncos played the Chargers, police say a fight broke out. One man was arrested but never charged, because police say it is possible he was also a victim.

The stadium says they have a code of conduct policy to make sure fans are safe. Fighting and physical violence are some possible the violations.

Mathew DeHerrera said he was with his brother Joshua and their friend in the parking lot when a man got out of the car and started yelling; that's when the men say a fight broke out.

"The next thing I knew I was stabbed and bleeding on my back. My brother was stabbed five times and our friend was also cut," Joshua DeHerrera said.

Police arrived and arrested a man who was later cleared of charges. The district attorney's office says there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute the man.

"The problem came in reviewing the facts of the case that there was never a positive ID that the man who was arrested actually committed the assault," Lynn Kimbrough with the Denver District Attorney's Office said.

Sports Authority Field officials say they have reviewed the incident internally and with police over the last month. They determined that everyone involved in the fight violated the fan code of conduct and would ultimately have to pay the consequences.

"We got a letter. It came in FedEx and said we were banned for a year from the night that it happened. I can't believe this is happening right now," Joshua DeHerrera said.

Stadium officials say their priority is the safety of their fans. DeHerrera says he understands their position, but says he is still disappointed.

"I still want to remain true and loyal to my team, but this hurts," DeHerrera said.

The three men purchased tickets for the game on Sunday, but they will not be able to attend. Stadium officials say anyone who has been banned and is caught on stadium grounds will be arrested and charged with trespassing.
