NORTHGLENN - Northglenn police say a 26-year-old man was arrested Friday for threatening his wife with a knife and taking the kids from the apartment.

Police say they were called to an apartment around 5:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Malley Drive after Shin Simpson Jr. and his wife got into a fight.

The wife said her husband burned her, threatened her with a knife and then took their children.

The man returned to the area of the complex around 8:45 p.m. Officers contacted him and he left the area again. Simpson then called his wife and told her he had shot one of their kids.

Shortly after the phone call to Simpson's wife, police got a call saying a man was seen running with children trying to get into homes in the 10700 block of Rosalie Drive.

Northglenn police went to that area and found Simpson's car with a bullet through the windshield.

Police found Simpson, along with the children, at a home where he had made a call to his wife from.

At that point the man turned himself in to the police.

Police say both of the children were fine.

Simpson was booked into Adams County jail on second degree assault, menacing, reckless discharge of a firearm and child abuse charges.
