KUSA - Longmont Police say a 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing three teens and fatally wounding one of them early Sunday morning at an underage party.
Secundino "Dino" Martinez faces a first-degree murder charge and two attempted murder charges.
Police say all three stabbing victims are from Lafayette. The man killed was 19-years-old, and the two surviving victims are 17 and 18. Police say both remain in the hospital in very serious condition. No names have been released.
The stabbings happened just after 2 a.m. in the 700 block of Francis Street. Investigators say about 20 people were at the party hosted by an 18-year-old whose parents were out of state.
"There was some marijuana and alcohol at the house," Longmont Cmdr. Jeff Satur said. "As the night progressed, a fight broke out."
Satur said Martinez stabbed the three men in the yard of the home, and then took off.
"We located him at the Walmart east of town, on Highway 119, about 4.5 miles from (the home)," Satur said.
Neighbor Andrew Lanham says his friend was at the party, but left before the fight.
"[He was] mortified because it was just a matter of timing," Lanham said.
It was a party that left crime tape draped over the street for more than 12 hours, and three families waiting at the hospital.
"Unfortunately, the third family had to learn their son was not there," Satur said. "They were calling [us] and it's just heartbreaking."
Police are still searching for the knife used in the attack. They believe Martinez stole a bike as he was trying to get away, and are trying to find who it belongs to. If you have any information on the case, call Longmont PD at 303-651-8501 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Martinez is being held in the Boulder Co. Jail and will be in court Monday.
