KUSA - A second teen involved in a stabbing during a weekend party has died, his family confirmed.
Family members identified the second victim as 18-year-old Jerrad Wallace. The name of the first victim, a 19-year-old man, has not been released. A 17-year-old boy remains hospitalized.
Police say 20-year-old Secundino "Dino" Martinez was arrested for the stabbings early Sunday morning at an underage party.
Martinez will be in court Tuesday morning to be formally charged with attempted murder in the case.
The stabbings happened just after 2 a.m. in the 700 block of Francis Street. Investigators say about 20 people were at the party hosted by an 18-year-old whose parents were out of state.
"There was some marijuana and alcohol at the house," Longmont Cmdr. Jeff Satur said. "As the night progressed, a fight broke out."
Satur said Martinez stabbed the three men in the yard of the home, and then took off.
"We located him at the Walmart east of town, on Highway 119, about 4.5 miles from (the home)," Satur said.
Neighbor Andrew Lanham says his friend was at the party, but left before the fight.
"[He was] mortified because it was just a matter of timing," Lanham said.
Wallace was many things to his family and friends.
"He wanted to love everyone, and everyone around him loved him. He demanded respect because of it," Wallace's sister Daniella said. "It was just the way that he was."
"I believe he died saving other people," Daniella added. "[Martinez] obviously wasn't stable. He went on a rampage. Jerrad died saving his friends."
Police have been looking for the knife used in the crime, and now they believe they may have found it in a backyard near where it happened. Testing will have to be done to confirm that it is the knife used.
They believe Martinez stole a bike as he was trying to get away, and are trying to find who it belongs to.
