DENVER - Lawmakers will discuss juvenile competency at the Capitol on Tuesday.
The discussion revolves around if a juvenile has a rational understanding of court proceedings and can assist in his or her own defense.
Lawmakers are looking at whether a juvenile deemed "incompetent to proceed" should be defined by state law.
Legislators are proposing a bill to clarify that. A first hearing and an initial vote are planned for Tuesday afternoon.
