Westminster girl escapes kidnapping attempt

WESTMINSTER - Westminster Police are looking for a man who tried to abduct an 11-year-old girl in Westminster Thursday morning.

Westminster Police said the girl was walking to the bus stop around 7 a.m. when she was approached by a man in a Jeep Cherokee in the 12300 block of Huron Street.

Police said the man tried to get her to go with him in his car. The girl was able to run away and tell an adult.

The bluish-green, older-model Cherokee has tinted windows. The suspect is described as a 40-year-old, white male with brown hair. He is approximately 6-feet tall.

Westminster Police said the will have increased patrols in the neighborhood and near the bus stop for the next several days.

Police are asking for anyone in the area who sees or has seen a vehicle/person matching the above description to contact the Westminster Police Department's Detective Judy Grigg 303-658-4229.
