DENVER - A 17-year-old boy who led police on a 24 hour manhunt was captured Friday in northeast Denver.

Adonnis Rucker was captured just before 6 p.m. near North Chambers Road and Green Valley Ranch Boulevard, several miles from where he escaped.

Rucker was being transported for a hearing Thursday when he escaped from custody at the Gilliam Youth Corrections Facility at 2844 Downing St.

Police say Rucker is facing four counts of second-degree kidnapping, two counts of attempted sexual assault and two counts of aggravated robbery in connection with separate incidents that occurred on Jan. 8 and Jan. 16 in Denver.

In the Jan. 8 incident, Rucker is accused of attacking and robbing a woman exiting an RTD bus in the area of South Monaco and East Iliff.

Police said Rucker knocked the woman to the ground and took her money and cell phone. According to police, Rucker then attempted to sexually assault the victim who was able to fight him off.

In the Jan. 16 incident, Rucker is accused of robbing a woman at gunpoint and then trying to sexually assault her in broad daylight in the 700 block of West 11th Avenue.

Police say the victim was robbed of her cell phone and then dragged into an alley where he attempted to sexually assault her.

Denver police said they attempted to take him into custody on Jan. 17 in the 12300 block of E. Albrook Dr., when Rucker attempted to flee and collided with a patrol car.

Rucker was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries before being returned to juvenile custody.

Police say the teen did not harm anyone while on the run.
