JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Monday morning the Broncos will wake up to a view of the city that doesn't sleep.
UNITED IN ORANGE: Super Bowl XLVIII Special Coverage from 9NEWS - Home of the Broncos
The team is staying just across the Hudson at a hotel in Jersey City. It will be home base for them this week - a sort of Dove Valley on the Hudson.
The players and coaches arrived Sunday to an unexpected reception.
The Broncos didn't ask for it and the hotel didn't plan on it either.
The mayor of Jersey City invited fans to show up Sunday afternoon and welcome the Broncos, as well as the Seahawks, at a hotel about 15 minutes away.
Jersey City is eager to show off the revival it's seen in the last decade and bring tourists in to see two of its flagship hotels on the beautiful waterfront.
Earlier Sunday afternoon the Broncos plane touched down at Newark Airport and taxied into a United hangar where the first fans they saw were United employees who were chosen to be among the select few to see the Broncos step off the plane in the state where they hope to win their third Super Bowl title. Those United employees got close to the Broncos in a way few fans will this week.
Now the Broncos will get some rest and get ready to prepare for the biggest day of their lives.
