WHEAT RIDGE - James Calvin Bryant, 34, was in Jefferson County Court where he entered a guilty plea to stabbing a 41-year-old Greeley man in May 2013.

Bryant pleaded guilty to second-degree assault, a class four felony, on Jan. 21.

Just after midnight on May 30, 2013, John Ferrara, Jr. drove to a house in the 3700 block of Vance Street in Wheat Ridge to drop off his two children at their grandfather's house for a visit. His ex-wife Nicole Ferrara also lived at the house, but John Ferrara expected her not to be at home when he brought the children.

After John Ferrara walked the children to the door he returned to his car. Before he could get into his car to leave, James Bryant and Nicole Ferrara drove up, got out of their car and approached John Ferrara, yelling. There was a short argument and then Nicole Ferrara began hitting John Ferrara. James Bryant then began punching and stabbing John.

John Ferrara was stabbed in the neck, arm and torso. He collapsed in a pool of blood. He was transported to the hospital where he was treated.

Nicole Ferrara was arrested on May 30, 2013. She pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and on Jan. 6, she was sentenced to two years probation.

Bryant was arrested on May 31, 2013. He will be sentenced on March 17 at 1 p.m. He could face a prison sentence of two to six years.
