EVERGREEN - Flames were still burning through the roof of a home under construction more than two-and-a-half hours after the fire broke out.
Firefighters and emergency workers from five agencies began battling the fire in the 29000 block of Troutdale Scenic Drive around 1 a.m.
Evergreen Fire & Rescue said six people who lived in the home made it out safely with the help of deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, the five-bedroom, 4,000 square foot home was built in 2012 and is worth about $446,000.
There were signs posted on the property that indicated the home was under construction or being remodeled.
As of 3:30 a.m. flames had completely engulfed the top floor of the home and had burned through the attic.
Firefighters know the fire started somewhere inside the house, but the exact origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
